• Warm JES greetings to everyone! I am Tammy Martin and am humbled and excited to serve as principal of Johnston Elementary. I am starting my 34th year in education, and I can honestly say I am still excited to come to school everyday!   I started my career in Saluda County where I was a teacher and an instructional coach. I have a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, a Master's degree in Elementary Education, and an Educational Specialist degree in Administration and Supervision. I am originally from Johnston, so I have felt as if I were coming home! I am married to Kyle Martin and we have 2 wonderful children, and I have a 4 year old grandson. Our daughter is a teacher at Douglas Elementary, and our son is a graduate of Presbyterian College and is currently working on his MBA from the University of South Carolina. My family and I love all things sports, especially Gamecock  and New England Patriot football, and just spending time together! I love to read, and my favorite place to be is at the beach with a good book in my hand!

We have a dynamic learning environment here at JES where we set high expectations for all learners. We are always looking for ways to highlight our students as learners, and as leaders. The JES faculty and staff work extremely hard to learn and try new things in their classrooms that address the many learning styles in our school. Not only do we have student learners, but we pride ourselves on being adult learners as well, so  we are constantly striving to be the best we can be for our students. In this building, wonderful things occur every day! We invite you to be a participant and to partner with us as we meet our children where they are, build them as leaders, and set goals with them to reach their highest potential!
