Johnston, SC – During the month of November and in preparation for the school’s annual Veterans Day Program, students at W.E. Parker Elementary School held a friendly competition between grade levels to collect items needed for homeless veterans.

Grade levels were assigned different items such as toothpaste, soap and deodorant to collect. The competition was won by the youngest Parker Pride students in the school’s Pre-Kindergarten (4K) classroom.

“Leading up to the project, our teachers had lessons on what a veteran is, what it means to serve and how we can serve those who have served us,” stated W.E. Parker Elementary School Principal Charidy Goldman.
